Commissioned by Dunne & Raby to help visualise concepts of fictional future socio-political structures.
Dunne & Raby are designers who stimulate discussion and debate about the social, cultural and ethical implications of existing and emerging technologies.
The project presents perspectives on a fictional future for the United Kingdom. England is devolved into four self-contained counties, each free to experiment with governance, economy and lifestyle. These “live laboratories” interrogate the cultural and ethical impact of existing and new technologies and how they alter the way we live.
Building on Dunne & Raby’s concepts definition and tactility was added to create high-resolution photorealistic compositions for two of the four fictional counties.
United Micro Kingdoms was exhibited at the Design Museum in 2013.
